Jaipur: A major accident has been reported on the Barmer-Jodhpur Highway in Rajasthan when a passenger bus and a tanker trailer collided severely. So far, 11 people have been burnt alive in the accident. According to the information received, the bus caught fire after the collision with the tanker and passengers did not get a chance to get out. Though police have so far confirmed the death of 11 people, the number of deaths may also increase.
According to the people present at the spot, about 25 people were on board the bus at the time of the accident. 10 people have been evacuated, but more people are still feared trapped in the bus. However, a large number of police forces are present on the spot and rescue operations are on. PM Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the bus accident in Rajasthan. PMO tweeted, "It is a piece of sad news that many people have died in a bus-tanker collision on Barmer-Jodhpur highway in Rajasthan. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. I wish the injured a speedy recovery: PM Modi.''
PM Modi has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident while Rs 50,000 each to the injured. CM Gehlot also tweeted about the incident and wrote, "The district collector has held a phone call with Barmer regarding the bus-truck accident in Barmer and directed him about relief operations. Better and commending treatment of the injured will be ensured.''
