New Delhi: PM Modi on Friday launched 12 railway projects related to passenger amenities along the historic Kosi Rail Mahasetu in Bihar. Earlier, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the launch of Kosi Rail Mahasetu through video conference will be a historic moment in the history of Bihar as the bridge will connect the region with the states of north-east India. In the last few days, PM Modi has given the gift of more than a dozen projects to Bihar.

In the meantime, PM Modi said that a new history has been created in the field of rail connectivity in Bihar today, along with Kosi Mahasetu and Kiul Bridge, rail traffic in Bihar, electrification of railways, promotion of make in India in railways, a dozen new employment generating projects have been launched and launched today. He said that 4 years ago, two mahasetu connecting North and South Bihar, one in Patna and the other at Munger were started. With the commissioning of these two railway bridges, the people between North Bihar and South Bihar have been made easier to move.

In 1887, a metre gauge link was built between Nirmali and Bhaptihi (Saraigarh) which was destroyed due to the massive earthquake in 1934. The Kosi and Mithanachal were then divided into two parts. Later on June 6, 2003, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee laid the foundation stone for the Kosi Mega Bridge Line project at a function held at a college in Nirmali. The historic Kosi Rail Mahasetu is 1.9 km long and has spent Rs 516 crore in construction.
