Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kolkata on a two-day visit on Saturday. During this, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee also met him. Soon after, she arrived to participate in a dharna demonstration organized by the student unit. This happened not once or twice. Apart from this, PM Di dedicated the nation's four redeveloped heritage buildings Old Currency Building, Belvedere House, Metkoff House and Victoria Memorial Hall to the nation.

Addressing a program at Old Currency Building in Kolkata during a program, he said that the historians who wrote about the history of the country after independence, ignored many important aspects of the subject without going into depth.

Apart from this, he said that one of the important aspects of nation building is to preserve the heritage of a country. At the same time, the Prime Minister said that we want to show the heritage of our country to the world, we want to make India a center of heritage tourism. Five reputed museums of the country will be developed on the basis of international standard, beginning with the Indian Museum in Kolkata. Further, he said that it is very unfortunate that many important chapters were ignored in the history that was written during British rule and even after independence. The Prime Minister while addressing an event in Old Currency Building said that Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore wrote in 1903 that the history of India is not what students study for examinations.
