New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while paying tribute to the country's first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad on his 135th birth anniversary, said on Tuesday that his personality filled with humility and scholarship will always inspire the countrymen. PM Modi tweeted that, "First tribute to Dr. Rajendra Prasad, first President of India, on his birth anniversary. He played a very active role in the freedom movement, and also made a special contribution in the framing of the Constitution. His personality filled with humility and scholarship will always inspire the countrymen."

It is noteworthy that Dr. Rajendra Prasad was born on December 3, 1884, in Jiradei village of Saran district of Bihar. BJP acting president JP Nadda also tweeted and paid tribute to him. Nadda wrote in his tweet that, "Remembering independent India's first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji on his death anniversary. A leader who personified humility."

Dr. Rajendra Prasad participated actively in the freedom struggle of India. He was one of the big leaders of Bihar joining the Congress. Postgraduate Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a great supporter of Mahatma Gandhi in advocacy. Dr. Rajendra Prasad also had to undergo jail sentence along with Mahatma Gandhi for the Satyagraha movement in 1931 and Quit India movement in 1942.
