New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the 250th session of the Upper House on Monday praised the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which has given a new air to speculation amid the political deadlock in the state. PM Modi praised the NCP and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members for not going in between the houses. Significantly, in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, NCP has emerged as a kingmaker.
Praising the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi emphasized the importance of the House. Talking about the removal of Article 370 to the triple talaq bill, Modi underlined how 'historic' this House is. Praising the Rajya Sabha, he said that the maturity of the House has ensured that the Bill on Three Divorces and GST were passed even after protests. Referring to the removal of Article 370, PM Modi said, "Whenever it comes to the country, the Rajya Sabha stands upon this occasion and makes a strong contribution."
