New Delhi: In the general budget, major announcements have been made on aspects related to income tax, farming and consumer. But apart from this, the government has also increased the budget of Special Protection Group (SPG). This group has the responsibility of protecting PM Modi. SPG's budget has been increased from 540 crores to about 600 crores. In the last year's budget, it was increased from 420 crores to 540 crores.

At present, SPG security protects only PM Narendra Modi. There are 3000 security personnel in this group. Earlier in November, the security of the interim presidents of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi was reviewed, after which their SPG security was lifted. After withdrawal of Special Protection Group (SPG) security from the Gandhi family, BJP sources said that the family has been continuously violating the security. Sources said that perhaps this is why the government may have taken this step.

Government sources have told that from 2005 to 2014, Rahul Gandhi travelled 18 times in various parts of the country in a non-bullet registered vehicle (non-BR vehicle). This is a serious violation. In August 2019, the Union Home Ministry had cut the security of former PM Manmohan Singh to Z-Plus category.
