Speaking Toady is International Tiger Day and on this occasion Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we reiterate our commitment to protect tigers. Every Indian will be proud of the figures that have been released about the tiger population. Nine years ago, in 2010, the international community in St. Petersburg, Russia, was set to double the tiger population by 2022. We achieved the goal of saving tigers four years ago.

Prime Minister Modi said, India is the best place in the world to conserve tigers. With regard to tiger population, he said that the tiger population was 2,226 in 2014. In 2018, it has increased to 2,967. Meanwhile, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that a few years ago, there were only 1400 tigers left across the country, but the tiger population has now increased to 2,967. It's really a pleasure. He said, the data collected was collected by surveying 3 lakh 80 thousand sq km in respect of tiger population. There were 26 thousand camera traps. There were 3.5 lakh pictures and 76 thousand tiger pictures.

"Prime Minister Modi guided us for this task. As a result, the forest cover has increased in the last 5 years. Forest cover is extended over 15 thousand square km. All life beings are part of our lives. Today, the whole world will salute that India has done such a great job of developing tigers. The details of census of tigers are released every four years. The last calculation was in 2014.
