RAMPUR: SP's leader and MP from Rampur Azam Khan is getting stuck in various cases these days. In the latest case, the Rampur police have started clamping down on them. The police has filed a charge sheet in all cases registered against Azam Khan for making a provocative speech during the general elections this year and not following the model code of conduct.

During the Lok Sabha elections, 13 cases and two NCR cases were imposed on Azam Khan. He was contesting from Rampur as a common candidate of SP-BSP and RLD alliance during the Lok Sabha elections. At the time of the election, Azam Khan was in the limelight over his controversial speech and statement. Azam had made highly objectionable statements against Actress Jaya Prada, who was standing as his rival candidate. They were also banned by the Election Commission. The police had also registered cases against him for his objectionable and provocative speech.

The situation had become such that Azam Khan's public meeting was a case against him. Meanwhile, a case was registered against Azam Khan in Bhot, one in Bilaspur, two in downtown Kotwali, one in Civil Lines, three in Shahbad, one in Khajuria, one in Milk, one in Tanda, one in Shahzadnagar and one in Camry.

In addition, NCR was imposed against Azam Khan at Ganj police station and Swar. After deliberation of the cases, the police have imposed charge sheets in all the cases. A case has been registered against MP Azam Khan at Azimnagar police station and a case is being registered at Civil Lines Kotwali where police research is on. In Azimnagar police station, 27 cases have been registered against Azam Khan for grabbing land belonging to farmers.
The SP has set up an inquiry committee of three officials to look into the cases. Information about these cases has also been sought from the government level. A case has been registered against Azam Khan in Civil Lines Kotwali by BJP leader Akash Saxena alleging that he used offensive words against former MP Jaya Prada. The police are investigating the case.
