New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will chair an important meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday. The main theme of the meeting is 'International Cooperation on Enhancing Maritime Security'. According to Indian time, the meeting will be held at 5.30 pm, which will be attended by important people from many countries of the world.

PM Modi will attend and preside over the function on behalf of India. Apart from him, top leaders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Congo President Felix, US Secretary of State Antony Blinkon, and many other countries are likely to attend the meeting. The meeting will be briefed by officials of the Drugs and Crime Section at the Office of the United Nations (UN). In addition, the President of the Congo will also address the meeting as the Head of the African Union.

Special issues are sometimes discussed in UNSC. But this is the first time that an open debate is taking place on an important issue. The focus of the debate is to discuss the issue of rising crime, other insecurities in the maritime sector. According to the Prime Minister's Office, Narendra Modi will be the first PM in the country to preside over an open debate of the UNSC. Since a country cannot decide or discuss maritime issues alone, all countries have been invited for an open debate.
