Eminent scientists, businesspeople, and top officials from scientific ministries make up the CSIR Society. The Society meets once a year to discuss its upcoming programmes and to assess CSIR activities.

The CSIR is currently focussing its research efforts on green energy technologies and STI (science, technology, and innovation) initiatives to create jobs and increase income levels in rural India, the Ministry of Science and Technology said.

According to the announcement from the Ministry, the CSIR's mandate also includes the development of vital science and technology human resources, enhancing self-reliance across industrial sectors, and enabling infrastructural improvements. For its scientific endeavours, the research and development company is utilising AI and machine learning systems.

The CSIR has improved its relationship with businesses, which has enhanced industry participation and cooperation in CSIR-funded projects. As per the statement from the Science and Technology Ministry, a few CSIR labs have supported sustainable start-ups to promote CSIR technologies relevant to the agri-bio-nutritech, specialty chemicals, aerospace, and healthcare themes in addition to the PPP model, which is used in the Energy Theme.
