PM to visit Punjab for the first time today after withdrawal of agricultural law

Chandigarh: PM Narendra Modi will be on a visit to Punjab today and will lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs 42,750 crore in the state. PM Modi's visit ahead of the Punjab assembly elections is considered crucial. PM Modi may also make some big announcements for the state. This will be PM Modi's first visit to Punjab after the Central government repealed agricultural laws. Most of the farmers in the movement against agricultural laws in Delhi were from Punjab.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects related to the conversion of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Amritsar-Una section into four lanes, Mukerian-Talwara new broad gauge railway line, PGI satellite centre at Ferozepur and two new medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur. PMO has said that as part of PM's efforts to improve connectivity across the country, several national highways have also been developed in Punjab.

According to PMO, as a result, the length of National Highways in the State has increased from 1,700 km in 2014 to 4,100 km in 2021. PMO said that in order to continue these efforts, PM will lay the foundation stone of two main road corridors in Punjab.
