Budget Session: PM Modi sworn in as MP, Rahul Gandhi absent from the session

New Delhi: The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha has begun today, during which new MPs have been sworn in. The BJP, which has won a spectacular victory in the Lok Sabha elections, would like the BJP to pass stuck bills other than the budget in this session.

BJP MP Virendra Kumar was sworn in as protem speaker after which he administered oath to other MPs.  Veerendra Kumar was administered the oath of office by President Ram Nath Kovind as the protem speaker of the Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also sworn in as an MP. Addressing the press before the parliament session began, Prime Minister Modi said, when the House is in place, there have been several decisions in the interest of the country.

He said, with more seats than before, the people have again given an opportunity to serve the BJP. For the opposition, PM Modi said that the opposition has to be strengthened and it is an essential condition of democracy. Congress National President Rahul Gandhi did not attend the first session of the House. The BJP has targeted Rahul Gandhi. BJP leaders have said that Rahul Gandhi has insulted democracy.
