New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, April 24, launched multiple projects, including GeM portal and the integrated e-GramSwaraj for public procurement at the panchayat level and the redevelopment of Gwalior railway station.
on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, during a public event in Rewa, the Prime Minister inaugurated the eGramSwaraj-Government eMarketplace integration to facilitate the Panchayats to procure goods and services through GeM portal. The Prime Minister also handed over nearly 35 lakh SVAMITVA property cards to beneficiaries and launched the ‘Joint Steps towards Development’ campaign.
The Prime Minister also participated in a programme marking the ‘Griha Pravesh’ of over four lakh (4.00-Lakh) beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various railway projects worth Rs. 2,300 crore, approx, including 100 percent rail electrification in Madhya Pradesh, and for projects worth about Rs.7,000 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Prime Minister emphasized that his government is constantly working to boost the Panchayati Raj system in India and to make life easier for rural India.
As per a release from the Prime Minister's Office, the objective of eGramSwaraj – Government eMarketplace integration is to enable the Panchayats to procure their goods and services through GeM, leveraging the eGramSwaraj platform.
With the target of taking forward people's participation towards ensuring saturation of schemes of the government, Prime Minister will unveil a campaign named “Vikas-ki-or-sajhe-kadam” - which means Together towards development. The theme of the campaign will be inclusive development, with a focus on reaching the last mile," the statement read.
