Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said in a statement last Friday that it has attached assets worth Rs 72 crore to a person from Maharashtra. It says the investigating agency has also kept a close watch on the alleged transactions between this man's wife and the wife of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. This entire transaction is related to the investigation of the PMC bank money laundering case of more than Rs 4,300 crore. Not only this, the Central Investigation Agency has also alleged that a person named Praveen Raut has embezzled Rs 95 crore from PMC Bank under the guise of debt, out of which he has also given Rs 1.6 crore to his wife Madhuri Raut.

Out of that, Madhuri has transferred Rs 55 lakh in two parts as an 'interest-free loan' to Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha Raut. In this case, the ED had recently called Varsha Raut for questioning in connection with some other deals in this transaction. The allegations and counter-allegations have been going on between Maharashtra and the Center since all these cases came to light.

Varsha Raut has not accepted the agency's notice thrice, but now there are reports that she can reach the ED in Mumbai on January 5 for quesioning. While giving clarification, Sanjay Raut had said, 'They have been in touch with the ED in connection with this case for about one and a half months. Details regarding the loan transaction of Rs 55 lakh have been submitted to the ED.'
