Police arrested 3 men for selling ‘Nagmani’ and red sand boa

Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police on Sunday arrested three people who were trying to sell two-headed red sand boa snake and a fake 'Nagamani'. A 57-year-old conman, who tried to cheat the public, by attempting to sell a fake stone claiming it was a nagamani, has been arrested by the Mahalakshmi Layout police. The accused was trying to con people near the Indira Canteen. The accused were duping people saying that if they kept these items at home, they would get rich and all their problems would go away within a few days. Along with the fake nagamani, police have recovered from him, a bronze plate and another bronze vessel. To make it look real, Pyaru had kept the 'Nagamani' in an ancient jug with some mantras scribbled on it.

The accused have been identified as Pyarubayi (57), a resident of Hiriyur town in Chitradurga district, Shivanna and Krishnappa, both of who are from Tumkur. The police received a tipoff that two people were trying to sell two-headed red sand boa and rushed to the APMC Yard Vegetable Market around 10 pm where the duo was waiting for customers to finalize the deal. The police recovered two red sand boas. The snake is sold and bought illegally for large amounts of money as it is believed that it can detect hidden treasures.
