Andhra Pradesh: A woman was gang-raped near Medikonduru Cross Road in Guntur district on Wednesday night. Police arrested all the accused involved in this incident. The incident happened when the woman of Sattanapalle mandal was returning from Guntur city along with her husband on a bike after attending a wedding ceremony.

The couple coming on the bike was stopped by the accused. They attacked the husband and then took his wife to a nearby field and gang-raped her. The Sattanapalle police have arrested eight laborers working in the cold storage near Paladugu, all the suspects involved in the gang rape incident.

All of them have been identified as youths from Odisha and Vizianagaram. A case has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway. TDP national general secretary Lokesh, on the other hand, reacted to the Guntur rape incident. He said that it is sad that another atrocity is taking place in Guntur district at a time when there was a massive debate on the safety of women in the state. "The incident of assault and rape on a bike-riding couple has shook the state," Lokesh asserted.
