Bengaluru: Police arrested four people from Madhya Pradesh almost for destroying the World Heritage site in Karnataka's Hampi almost a year ago.
The case had come to light just earlier this week when a video of the heinous act went viral on social media. The video helped in identifying the accused.
According to reports, the police officials launched a search operation for the men responsible for causing damage to the world heritage site. The video helped police to identify the boys and arrested them from Madhya Pradesh.

Pillars have developed cobwebs and termites
It was ascertained that the damage caused to the pillars was done at least a year ago by senior archaeologists who inspected the site earlier this week. Police official said, the pillars had already developed cobwebs and termites. In the video which had gone viral on social media, the boys could be seen desecrating pillars of the Vishnu temple in Hampi, Karnataka.

Earlier this year, the New York Times' list of '52 Places to go in 2019' featured Hampi on the second place. It was a moment of pride since Hampi was the only place in India to feature in the list.
