Alok Kumar, Delhi Police Commissioner has been appointed as the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation. The three member panel led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also including Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge declared its decision yesterday.

Last year, from December 2 the post of CBI director has been vacant after the retirement of Anil Sinha. IPS Officer of Gujarat- Cadre, Rakesh Asthana was the interim director of CBI while the post was vacant.

Alok Kumar took over as the Delhi Police Commissioner from 29, February 2016.
