The onset of the year has brought forth new cases of cyber fraud and innovative methods. The Cyber Crime Police have now issued guidelines to stay vigilant. The Cyber Crime Police have cautioned against a new type of cyber scam: the 'Online Trading Scam'. These guidelines have been issued by the Chennai Police. According to media reports, the Cyber Crime Police have warned to beware of new online trading scams, offering users trading-related tips.

The scam typically begins with the victim receiving an advertisement promising free trading tip classes. These online classes are advertised on social media platforms or messaging apps like WhatsApp. A link is provided in the advertisements, clicking on which connects the user directly to a WhatsApp group or social media group. Users are prompted to join the group. Subsequently, cybercriminals use this group to provide victims with free trading tips. Additionally, they suggest investment plans by clicking on certain links.

Promise of substantial earnings follows suit. After a few days, cybercriminals instruct victims to install an app, making various promises of hefty profits. They gain access to crucial details and bank information from users' mobile phones. In many cases, hackers even manage to hack into the mobile phones. Consequently, they can empty your bank account. Hence, it is imperative to remain cautious.

Stay safe and aware of such cyber scams to protect yourself and your finances.
