Police personnel above 50 years of age will retire in Lucknow, DGP HQ seeks list

Lucknow: The Director General of Police (DGP) headquarters in the U.P.'s capital Lucknow has sent a letter to all the heads of the police department seeking a list of policemen shortlisted for compulsory retirements to ensure efficiency in government service. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath had ordered the forced retirement of incompetent government workers who had crossed the age of 50 years. A few months ago, a mandate was also issued by Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari.

In compliance with this, the police department is now showing strictness. The DGP Headquarters has sent a letter to all the heads of the police department on October 21 seeking the number of policemen identified for compulsory retirement to ensure efficiency in government service. A senior police department official informed that according to the mandate, the personnel who have crossed the age of 50 years in police departments are being reviewed and given retirement on the basis of their functioning.

ADG Singhal said that a letter was sent on September 5, 2020, directing personnel who have completed the age of 50 years and above to be shortlisted for compulsory retirement.
