The political instability in Jammu and Kashmir since article 370 was withdrawn is now expected to be resolved as PM Modi has invited leaders of all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir for a meeting on June 24.  It has been learnt that the invitation to the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have been sent informally. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has confirmed her media invitation.

Mehbooba Mufti has said that she has been informally invited to the meeting and is discussing it with party leaders. Sources say Mehbooba Mufti has convened a meeting of PDP leaders on Sunday to discuss the meeting with Prime Minister Modi on June 24. The same meeting will decide whether PDP will attend the meeting with the Prime Minister or not.

It is also being said that the meeting with the Prime Minister is likely to discuss the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and other essential issues. A senior from Jammu and Kashmir said, "We have received information. We don't know what the meeting is about, but we will wait for a formal invitation and take a decision only after that."

Home Minister Amit Shah had a meeting with top security and intelligence officials including NSA Ajit Doval and Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha on Friday. On August 5, 2019, Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was removed by the Central Government. At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were made 2 separate Union Territories. Thousands of leaders of the Valley, including former CM Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, were then detained for months. Since then, there has been an atmosphere of political instability.
