Porsche, a German automaker, is recalling up to 193,000 sports car models because of a minor problem with the headlights. Despite the fact that the headlights' horizontal adjustment mechanism is not protected by a sealing cap, the manufacturer warns that it is possible for someone to unintentionally set the lower beam's horizontal adjustment mechanism to an incorrect position.
The Cayenne, Cayman S, Macan, and Panamera vehicles from the 2003–2020 model years are among the Porsche models that are involved in the recall.
If this occurs, it may cause glare for other drivers. This would also imply that the cars don't adhere to the FMVSS 108 requirements set forth by the government. The problem was initially identified in May 2022 when workers at the Porsche plant in Leipzig found missing sealing covers in automobiles built for the Canadian market.
The manufacturer then started looking at previous manufacturing records to investigate the range of affected automobiles. It also examined whether the sealing cap that was missing was required to keep the headlights from being changed.
Porsche dealerships will examine the left and right headlights to identify the problem, and if no caps are present, they will be retrofitted. Owners will be told of the problem on October 29. Dealers were notified of the problem on September 14, 2022.
In a related development, Porsche is now working on the second generation of the Porsche Taycan, the company's first electric vehicle. According to sources, the Volkswagen Scalable Systems Platform will serve as the foundation for both the Porsche Taycan and the electric Panamera model (SSP). It is anticipated that the Porsche Panamera will grow more opulent while the Porsche Taycan will continue to be a performance vehicle.
Porsche is now planning to release the Macan SUV's all-electric variant. The Porsche Macan EV will begin manufacturing the following year and go on sale in 2024.
