NEW DELHI: In the Punjab government, Cabinet Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is in the limelight over an earlier statement. He has been asked when he is retiring from politics by putting posters on the walls of Ludhiana. In fact, Sidhu had said in Amethi during the Lok sabha election 2019 campaign that Congress President Rahul Gandhi could never lose the election but he lost.

The posters have been put up on the basis of Sidhu's speech asking when Sidhu is retiring from politics. The posters reads, "So when are you quitting politics." The time has come. We are waiting for your resignation."  Congress President Rahul Gandhi has been defeated by Union Minister Smriti Irani by 55,120 votes.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had won 408,651 votes in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections while BJP candidate Smriti Irani got 300,748 votes. The Congress president then defeated Smriti Irani by a margin of 1,07,000 votes. Rahul Gandhi was elected to Amethi three consecutive times. He won the seat in 2009 by more than 350,000 votes. Rahul Gandhi first arrived in Parliament in 2004.
