New Delhi [India] Jan 9 (NT):  On the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas Prime Minister Narendra Modi will induct the first Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference in the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra on Tuesday here.

In this conference, as many as 124 Members of Parliament and 17 mayors from 23 nations will take part in this conference.

The gala event is planned to inaugurate at 10 am with Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj’s introductory speech and Prime Minister Modi will be the central speaker.

Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) is marked, January 9 every year as a yearly commemorative day that scripts the contribution of overseas persons of Indian origin (PIO) towards their mother country.

This is the initial PIO-Parliamentary Conference and is a way of realization to the Indian community in foreign countries by the Modi-led- government.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in the wake to commemorate the resilience of the conference, has also well thought-out an open competition to design a logo that would best show the spirit of the First PIO Parliamentarian Conference.
