New Delhi: The havoc of the fastest-spreading Omicron variant of the Coronavirus is now on the rise. In view of this, pre-booking of the RT-PCR test has been made mandatory at six airports in India from today. Recently, in the direction of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, it has been stated that the rule has been introduced for passengers coming from 'risk' countries. On the other hand, according to an official notification, the 'Air Suvidha' portal will be amended. So that people coming from at-risk countries or living there in the last 14 days can pre-book.

Let us tell you that these airports are also located in six major metro cities of the country, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Recently, the Ministry has made it clear that this is only the first phase of implementation of the Protocol and after stabilizing the system and ensuring that passengers do not face any major problem in pre-booking, the rule can also be extended to other airports. You must be aware that RT-PCR (RT-PCR Test) is generally considered to be the most accurate test for detecting, tracking and studying the presence of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in a person. Amidst all this, passengers will now have to book online slots for RT-PCR tests at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, or others.

How to pre-book RT-PCR tests at the airport - Visit the official website of the international airport in the city where you are coming. Then look at the option with 'Book Covid-19 Test' on the top panel. Now you select travel type. Then fill in all personal information, such as name, e-mail ID, mobile number, Aadhaar card/passport number, address, appointment date, time slot. Now select the test to be conducted after entering all the information. (e.g. RT-PCR, Rapid PCR Test) Then follow all the directions that appear on the screen and book the slot for your RT-PCR test.

How much is the payment for RT-PCR test - A passenger will have to pay Rs 500 for a regular RT-PCR test, while the rapid PCR test costs Rs 3,500.
