President Murmu Appoints Permanent Judges for Bombay and Delhi High Courts

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday appointed seven additional judges of the Bombay High Court and three additional judges of the Delhi High Court as permanent judges of their respective courts. Additionally, the terms of two other additional judges of the Bombay High Court have been extended for another year through reappointment.

The additional judges of the Bombay High Court who have been appointed as permanent judges are Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade, Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani, Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase, Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi, Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar, Milind Manohar Sathaye, and Dr. Neela Kedar Gokhale. These appointments strengthen the judiciary in Bombay, ensuring that these experienced judges will continue to serve in a permanent capacity.

In the Delhi High Court, the additional judges who have been elevated to permanent judges are Girish Kathpalia, Manoj Jain, and Dharmesh Sharma. This decision aims to bolster the judicial system in the capital by providing stability and continuity with these judges now holding permanent positions.

Furthermore, the terms of two additional judges of the Bombay High Court, Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh and Vrushali Vijay Joshi, have been extended. They have been reappointed as additional judges for a fresh term of one year, starting from October 7, 2024. This extension allows them to continue contributing to the judiciary while maintaining their current roles.

These appointments and reappointments were announced in a press release issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, underscoring the government's commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial system in India.
