NEW DELHI: India President Droupadi Murmu today, September 5, emphasized that talent development in science, literature and social sciences can be more effective if taught in one's native language.

While speaking at the gathering at the National Teachers Awards ceremony where  President recalled the contribution of her school teachers due to which she became the first girl from her village to go to college.

"Teaching people in their mother tongue can be more beneficial for developing talent in science, literature, and the social sciences," she claimed. The President further mentioned that India has one of the largest educational systems in the world.

She honoured the distinctive contributions made by 46 chosen recipients by presenting them with the National Awards to Teachers, 2022.

Every year on September 5 on Teachers' Day, the Ministry of Education hosts a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan to present awards to the nation's top educators who have been chosen after a rigorous, open, and online three-stage selection process.

Earlier on  Saturday, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of IIT Delhi in New Delhi today President Murmu said that by 2047 when we will celebrate 100 years of Independence, the world around would have changed drastically, all because of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Just like 25-years ago we never imagined the contemporary world, we can't visualise today how Artificial Intelligence and automation are stepping up to transform life.  With our high population numbers, we need to have foresight and strategies in place to deal with the forces of future where disruptions will be a new normal. The nature of employment will get completely changed, she said.
