Guwahati: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who is on a 2-day tour to Assam visited the shaktipeeth Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati this morning.

Notably, she is making her first trip to the state since becoming office.  She prayed at the temple, asking for blessings for everyone's health and welfare.

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accompanied President Murmu to the temple situated atop Nilachal Hills.

"It was an honour to accompany Hon. Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Hon. President Smt. Droupadi Murmj ji to the Kamakhya Temple during their two-day visit to Assam. We prayed to Maa Kamakhya for her blessings and asked her to look out for everyone's welfare "After visiting the temple, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in tweet.

She officially opened a Supercomputer facility in Param Kamrupa, a facility for the design and development of high-power microwave components at IIT Guwahati, a medical college and hospital in Dhubri, and she essentially laid the foundation stone for NIV Zonal Institutes in Dibrugarh (Assam) and Jabalpur on Thursday, her first day in Assam (Madhya Pradesh).

At the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, the President attended a civic reception and cultural event in her honour in the evening.

The President expressed her gratitude to the Assamese people for their love and affection during her speech on the occasion.  She expressed her gratitude to the Assamese for their kind greeting.

The President praised Assam's great cultural and spiritual splendour. Exceptional individuals like Srimanta Sankaradeva and Madhabdev contributed to the spiritual and cultural tradition of India and worked to bind the nation together.  

There are many things to be learned from the Bodo society of this region. Amazing talents such as Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, and Bhupen Hazarika have given limitless gifts to Indian society and culture.
