New Delhi: When President Ram Nath Kovind called Karnataka para-athlete KY Venkatesh to honour him with the Padma Shri, the small-statured player caught everyone's attention as he walked towards the stage. After Venkatesh reached the stage when the President noticed that the gap between the two was more because of his small stature. The President himself, along with Venkatesh, came down from the stage to the same surface and honoured him with a Padma Shri badge.

Y Venkatesh is only four feet tall. He made it to the Limca Book of Records by winning six medals at the fourth World Dwarf Games in 2005. He also won 17 medals for the country at the 5th Dwarf Olympic Games in 2009. Venkatesh, of course, has a low physical stature, but his height of honour is high, for which the President himself also took off the dais and felicitated him. The president's descending steps won the hearts of all those present and the whole situation erupted in applause.

He is also being highly appreciated for this work done by President Ram Nath Kovind. Venkatesh has now said goodbye to the world of professional sports. But he is currently secretary of the Karnataka Para-Badminton Association.
