Women and children were among those evacuated, and they were flown to Djibouti on an Air Self-Defense Force C-2 transport plane from Port Sudan in the country's east. The mission was carried out in close collaboration with Japan's Ministry of Defence, Self-Defense Forces, and other ministries and agencies.
Separately, four Japanese nationals were evacuated from Sudan to Djibouti and Ethiopia with the help of France and the International Red Cross.
