A truck loaded with budget papers arrived at Parliament on Tuesday, ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget 2022-23.

Nirmala Sitharaman met with President Ram Nath Kovind earlier today in preparation for the Budget presentation. Ministers of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and Bhagwat Karad, as well as other Ministry officials, accompanied her.

In the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she chose to carry the documents in a tablet encased in a red-colored cover with the national insignia embossed on it, rather than her characteristic 'bahi khata.'

Several opposition parties opposed to the government presenting a paperless Union Budget and Economic Survey at the Business Advisory Committee meeting on Monday afternoon, which was headed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

According to sources, these Lok Sabha leaders told the administration through the Speaker that downloading every document off the internet, reading it, and processing it in time for comments would be difficult.
