" Priyanka Gandhi is one of the most awaited entries in Indian politics": Prashant Kishor

Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra finally took the political pitch when she was appointed the All India Congress Committee general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh. The crucial decision came just months before the Lok Sabha Elections. While the Congress workers rejoiced over Priyanka’s formal political entry, calling it the arrival of “doosri Indira Gandhi”, the BJP took aim at the main opposition party for promoting dynasty politics. Inspite of all this, the talk of whether Priyanka will be able to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the General Elections has started.

However, Prashant Kishor has dubbed the talk of Priyanka being able to counter PM Modi’s march as “premature”. Kishor, who was instrumental in the BJP’s 2014 Lok Sabha poll victory, said the people should give Priyanka at least some years before evaluating her capabilities as a prime ministerial candidate and eventually as prime minister of the country. Kishor, the vice president of Janata Dal (United), was speculation on that Priyanka’s formal entry into politics suggests she could even by the Congress party's PM candidate in the General Elections.

Kishor told that "If we think that any person, be it Priyanka Gandhi or anyone, can bring about a major change in one of the oldest parties in the country in a limited time span, it won't be fair. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should be given two to three years’ time and after that, the people of the country can decide if she will be capable of taking responsibilities."

Earlier,  He had dubbed Priyanka’s appointment as Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East as "one of the most awaited entries in Indian politics".
