New Delhi: Congress Party National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has attacked the Uttar Pradesh government on the issue of payment of sugarcane farmers. He has accused Yogi government of not paying dues to sugarcane farmers. Priyanka Vadra Gandhi has said that the BJP, which claims payment in 14 days, is sitting silently now.

On Friday, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, citing news of the alleged suicide of a farmer in Muzaffarnagar district, and while targeting the Yogi government of the state, wrote, "See your sugarcane crop drying up in the field and not getting the slip, a sugarcane farmer of Muzaffarnagar committed suicide. The BJP claimed that full payment would be given in 14 days, but the sugar mills have been closed".

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has further written that "I had warned the government for this 2 days ago. Think about what will happen to the peasant families who are not getting paid during this financial crisis. But the BJP government does pay the sugarcane farmers in 14 days." On Thursday, a sugarcane farmer gave his life by hanging on a tree in the town of Sisauli, under the Muzaffarnagar police station, Bhanura Kala area. The name of the farmer was Ompal (50). Local people have told that the sugarcane crop was in the field and there was no information from the sugar mill. His family was struggling with financial problems, under this tension, the farmer committed suicide.
