NEW DELHI: The court has acquitted all the six accused in the murder of Pehlu Khan, who was suspected to have been involved in cow smuggling into Rajasthan two years ago. In a tweet on Friday, National General Secretary of the Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "The lower court's verdict in the Pehlu Khan case is shocking. There should be no place for inhumanity in our country and mob lynching is a heinous crime. '

Priyanka Vadra, sister of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, wrote in a tweet that "the Rajasthan government's initiative to legislate against mob lynching is commendable. It is hoped that a good example of this will be set by bringing justice to the Pehlu Khan case. The court has acquitted all the six accused in the mob lynching case on August 14. The verdict was taken by Justice Dr. Sarita Swami narrated.

The case was in the spotlight in the country after Khan's murder in Alwar about two years ago in connection with the cow smuggling case. A total of 9 accused, including two child offenders, were indicted in the case. The court made 44 statements from the prosecution. The case of three other minor offenders is underway in Juvenile Court. The video that the police produced in the court was not considered as strong evidence by the court. Prosecutor Hemchandra Sharma said that the court acquitted all of them.
