NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has praised his sister and the party's National General Secretary Priyanka Vadra for resigning as the party's national president. Describing Rahul Gandhi's decision to quit as Congress chief as a bold step, Priyanka Vadra said very few people have the courage that you have shown.

Priyanka Vadra wrote on her official Twitter account on Wednesday, "Very few people have the courage for that you have done, i heartily respect your decision."

Earlier, Rahul said in his tweet, "As Congress Party President, I am responsible for the loss of 2019 elections. Accountability is vital for the future development of our party. That's why I'm resigning as Congress President."

Rahul also wrote a four-page letter in which he said, "The reconstruction of the party requires tough decisions and many people have to be held accountable for the failure of 2019."
