Protesters gather outside Jama Masjid after prayers, chants 'Save the Constitution'

New Delhi: Hundreds of people gathered outside the Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, facing the bitter cold in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Congress leader Alka Lamba and former Delhi MLA Shoaib Iqbal were also present with the protesters. Delhi Police is also taking the help of drones to keep an eye on the situation.

Lamba attacked the government and said that the real issue in the country is unemployment, but PM wants to put people in the queue for NRC, as was done during demonetization. He said that it is necessary to raise the voice of democracy for the country and the constitution. The central government cannot run dictators and the government cannot impose its agenda on the people. After the prayers in the Jama Masjid today, the protesters shouted slogans against the Citizenship Act and the proposed National Civil Register (NRC).

Protestants standing near Jama Masjid had placards in their hands, on which it was written, 'Save the constitution, distribute the country.' The protesters also raised slogans against the government.
