New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given important instructions to the DM of Varanasi today, i.e., on Friday, regarding the status of Muslim worshippers. The court has asked to provide an adequate number of tubs with water. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench of Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha that the District Magistrate would provide enough water tubs for people to perform ablution during prayers.
The court noted that the Solicitor General submits that the District Magistrate will ensure that a sufficient number of tubs for water are available to facilitate Vazu. Let us tell you that the Muslim side had demanded from the Supreme Court that, in view of Ramzan, arrangements for washing and toilets be made in Gyanvapi. After which, the apex court ordered Varanasi District Magistrate S Rajalingam to resolve the problem by taking a consensus decision.
The DM had tried to solve this problem by holding a meeting with the Muslim side on Tuesday and with the Hindu side on Wednesday. In the meeting held with the Anjuman Intejamia Masajid Committee, it was decided to demolish the old bathroom, make it a toilet, and arrange for ablution by placing a tank on top of it, which was opposed by the Hindu side.
