Shimla: On January 22, the Himachal Pradesh government has officially declared a public holiday to commemorate the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This significant decision mirrors similar actions taken by various states, with Uttar Pradesh also declaring a public holiday for the auspicious occasion. In addition to this, Madhya Pradesh has chosen to observe a half-day holiday for government offices and a full holiday for schools and colleges during the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony in Ayodhya.

Extending beyond the holiday announcement, several states have taken the additional step of implementing a ban on the sale of liquor on January 22 in connection with the temple consecration ceremony. The states enforcing a 'dry state' policy for this particular day include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Tripura, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

The ceremony scheduled in Ayodhya on January 22 is poised to witness the ceremonial installation of the idol of Ram Lalla, depicting Lord Ram in his childlike form, at the newly constructed temple. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to preside over this historic event, underscoring its national significance and cultural importance.
