Amidst the ongoing political upheaval in Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot has been advised not to use the sedition law against his opponents. The organization has given this opinion in view of the wrong use of the sedition law that is going on continuously in the country.

He has written, citing former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, that he particularly condemned this law. Congress had stated in its manifesto (2019) that by referring to section 124A of the Indian Penal Code (which acts to show the crime of treason), it is being misused. It is completely meaningless, so it will be scrapped.

PUCL released its statement saying that there have been allegations for the past few days that in Rajasthan, the opposition and leaders within Congress party are trying to topple the elected government. It is very sad. The whole of India is facing a health crisis. Financial condition is becoming difficult for us due to lockdown. All care should be taken on avoiding the health and financial problems of the people. PUCL has expressed surprise about the registration of three FIRs in the Special Police Station by Congress Chief Whip Mahesh Joshi. 3 FIR numbers are as follows. 047/2020, FIR 048/2020 and 049/2020. All these FIRs have been conducted under 120 (B) conspiracy and 124 (A) sedition. Do not understand why they want to impose sedition law.
