Mumbai: A 22-year-old female engineering student from Pune, who had been missing since March 30, was discovered murdered in Ahmednagar on Sunday, according to a police official. Allegedly, she was abducted by three individuals, including a friend from college, with the intention of demanding ransom. Tragically, she was later strangled, the official revealed.

The student, enrolled in an engineering college in the Wagholi area, was last seen on March 29 when she was accompanied by a male college friend and two others who dropped her off at her hostel. Subsequently, on March 30, they transported her to Ahmednagar. It's reported that they demanded a ransom of Rs 9 lakh from her parents before committing the heinous act. "After strangling her, they buried her body on the outskirts of Ahmednagar and removed the SIM card from her cellphone," the official stated.

Following a missing person complaint filed by her family, a police investigation identified the three suspects through technical analysis. They were subsequently apprehended, the official confirmed.
