Amritsar: People above 18 years of age will not be able to get vaccine in Punjab from today. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also said that due to shortage of vaccine, immunization of people in the age group of 18-45 years will not start on time. The crisis has arisen due to non-arrival of korana vaccine doses from the Centre.

Punjab will now have to launch a campaign on the basis of 30 lakh vaccine doses sourced from cm covid relief fund. Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has also expressed little hope of getting doses from the Centre. Health Minister Balibar Singh Sidhu said that the Union Government has announced corona vaccine for people above the age of 18 years from May 1, but no consignment of vaccine has reached Punjab so far, leaving people above 18 years of age unlikely to get the vaccine from May 1.

He further said that the Punjab government has ordered 30 lakh doses to the serum institute at its own level also. Two days later, all over 18 years of age have been vaccinated, which does not seem to be rising. Sidhu said we had received two lakh doses on Wednesday before 1.5 lakh doses. We don't have the information about how many more doses we will get from the centre today and tomorrow. If we get at least one million doses of vaccine, we can start this programme.
