Chandigarh: With the goal of giving more relief to individuals in the central urban areas of COVID-19, the state announced on Wednesday that till September 30, all the 167 municipal towns of the state will have a curfew on Saturdays and on Sundays. There will be no curfew in the day. A spokesman of the government said that within the municipal limits of the districts, there will be a ban on traffic for all non-essential works from 9:30 am to 5 am.
However, according to the instructions required for people to go to their destination after necessary activities and services such as traffic of people and goods on national and state routes, traffic of people within the interstate, unloading by buses, trains and aeroplanes will be allowed. Giving details of the restriction of the last days/nights of the week, the spokesperson said that except shops involved in the business of essential goods, the remaining shops/malls would be allowed to be open from Monday to Saturday till 9 pm, but on Sunday all will remain closed in districts.
Also, shops/malls involved in the business of essential commodities will be open till 9 o'clock during the last days of the week. Along with this, religious places have also been allowed to remain open till 9 o'clock at night during all days.
Apart from this, the existing restrictions on the number of passengers in trains will also be applicable, in which 3 people including the driver in a four-wheeler and all buses and public transport trains are allowed to run with only half the capacity. It will be mandatory to follow all safety rules.
