Amritsar: Punjab's Congress government has sent its reply to the Union Home Ministry on PM Modi's security lapses late on Thursday night. The Punjab Chief Secretary is said to have sent a reply with facts to the reasons for PM Modi's security lapses. In fact, the Union Home Ministry had summoned a report from the Punjab government on the matter after PM Modi's security lapse in Punjab on January 5.

According to reports, the report has been prepared after talking to senior officials guarding PM Modi in Ferozepur. Sources said the report said there was opposition to PM Modi's visit across Punjab. Additional security forces were prepared in view of the protests and demonstrations. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi had dismissed PM Modi's security lapses. CM Channi had said that he was sorry that PM Modi had to return from the Ferozepur district. We respect our PM. If there is any lapse in the security of the PM, we will get it investigated.

CM Charanjit Singh Channi had said that there is a democratic system in our country. I too had to attend PM Modi's programme, but I did not go because I was in touch with corona infected people and so I entrusted Finance Minister Manpreet Badal and Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa with the duty to welcome the Prime Minister. In a way, CM Channi is saying that he did not arrive to receive PM because he was exposed to corona infected people, but that same evening he was seen holding a press conference without a mask. This double mindset is putting CM Channi in the dock.
