Haryana High court notice to Punjab Government in case of student termination during lockdown

But during this time a private school in Gobindgarh recently expelled many children from the school. Hearing the petition filed against it, the High Court has issued a notice to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the Government of Punjab and the school management seeking response on 29 May.

The Punjab Haryana High Court heard the case through video conferencing on a petition filed by the Parents' Welfare Association of Parents through Advocate Ferry Sofat. Parents Welfare Association said in the petition that for the last two-three years it has been consistently opposing the school to increase the fees. A school complaint has also been made to the concerned authority.

On March 3, the institution had complained to the District Education Officer that the school is now threatening that the children of those who are protesting, will be expelled from the school. On March 16, the district education officer wrote a letter to the school, saying that as long as the complaint is pending with them, they will not expel the children from school nor will there be any increase in fees. But on March 25, the District Education Officer withdrew his order without hearing the petitioner's body. After this, the association complained to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. On 9 April, the Commission wrote a letter to the DC of Fatehgarh Sahib and issued instructions to the school in favour of the association. But the very next day the school fired many students.
