Amritsar: PM Narendra Modi's convoy, which was on its way to pay homage to freedom sacrifices at Hussainiwala in Bathinda on January 5, 2022, was stopped on a flyover by farmer protesters, forcing him to cancel his tour and return after being trapped there for 20 minutes. The case raised questions about the functioning of Punjab police who were seen sipping tea with the protesters. The Congress government in Punjab also kept changing its statements. The matter has now reached the Supreme Court, which has been examined by the Committee. On the other hand, according to an India Today report, Punjab police deliberately did not take any action against the protesters and they knew all of them in advance.

In this sting operation, the 'India Today' journalist first met Sukhdev Singh, DSP, Ferozepur. Because, PM Modi was scheduled to hold a rally in Ferozepur on that day, which had to be cancelled. They asked him how the state's intelligence system had finally failed in the matter. On this, he said that a letter was sent to the top officials on January 2 stating that PM Modi's rally was going to go awry. He said senior officers were alerted by sending continuous reports that protesters could enter the rally pandal and hold a protest on the road if stopped by the police. However, the SPG had already alerted the Punjab administration that PM Modi would visit the road in case the weather was bad and arrangements should be made in this regard. Police officials had also spoken on intelligence inputs on the day of the visit. India Today has revealed based on the photographs of the day that the road was not cleared even after that. DSP Sukhdev Singh said he was already sending messages to SSP about the activities of the protesters.

Sukhdev Singh said that the protesters had gathered at 11.45 pm and were heading towards Moga Road. The message was sent to higher authorities at 12:07 p.m. Then, at 12:20 p.m., the protesters broke the Ferozshah barricade. The protesters were moving on the same route from where PM Modi's convoy was about to arrive. A message was sent at 12:32 p.m. At 1.45 pm, SSP was informed that 200-225 protesters had blocked the VVIP route. At 12:52, PM Modi's convoy reached there and had to return at 1:10 p.m. after being stranded for about 20 minutes. SHO Birbal Singh of Kulgarhi police station in Ferozepur said that no order was issued by the state government to remove the protesters.

Birbal Singh said, 'What could we do? We were not ordered by the state government to beat them up. If we had been ordered to disperse the crowd using sticks, tear gas or bullets, we could have dispersed them. But elections are coming. We could not use force. Suddenly the protesters gathered. I did not get to know about the protest because of the communication gap. The police officer also claimed that the protesters who staged the Chakka Jam on that day were extremist forces disguised as farmers. A market near the flyover was also kept open, flouting the protocols, in which a liquor shop was also running without fear. The protesters had also instigated the villagers to block the road. The youths running with sticks were gathering the villagers. Many farmer unions were active there. A villager informed that it was announced to collect people from the Gurudwara as well.

Khalistani terrorists were also active:

Not only the Kisan Union but also the Khalistan section was plotting against PM Modi's rally. Pannu of the Khalistani terror group Sikh for Justice had announced a $100,000 reward for showing shoes to PM Modi. Even after that, the agitators were not stopped by the police from coming in the way of PM Modi. The police station in-charge Birbal Singh has also admitted that fundamentalists in the guise of farmers had gathered to block PM Modi's path. In that case, if there had been a tragic incident with the Prime Minister, who would have been responsible for it?
