Amritsar:  Punjab Police announced on Thursday that they successfully foiled potential targeted killings by apprehending a member of a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-linked terror module. The module, reportedly led by US-based wanted terrorist Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passian, a close associate of designated terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda, was also facilitated by Italy-based associate Resham Singh, stated Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.

The arrested individual, identified as Vikramjit Singh from Ghaniye Ke Bangar in Batala, was found in possession of a .32-bore pistol, two magazines, nine live cartridges, and an empty bullet shell. According to DGP Yadav, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, received intelligence that Harpreet Singh and Resham Singh were plotting a significant criminal operation in Punjab, coordinating with Vikramjit who was en route to Chamrang Road, Amritsar, on his motorcycle.

Police swiftly cordoned off the area and apprehended Vikramjit, averting the potential threat. Investigations revealed that Vikramjit was engaged in illicit activities under the direction of his overseas handlers. Assistant Inspector General of Police Sukhminder Singh Mann disclosed that Vikramjit had been in contact with Resham Singh for several years, and recently, Resham had introduced him to Harpreet Singh to act as his accomplice. Harpreet Singh, in turn, was involved in procuring and distributing weapons and ammunition among his associates, including Vikramjit.

A case has been registered against Vikramjit Singh under Section 25 of the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code in Amritsar.
