Amritsar: The School Education Board in Punjab has banned three books that tell the wrong history of Sikhs. The ban on these books has been imposed after the report of an inquiry committee came out. A complaint, in this case, was lodged by a farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa. Among the books banned, the first name is 'Modern ABC of History of Punjab' which has been written by Manjeet Singh Sodhi. The name of the second and third books is 'History of Punjab'. It has been written by Mahinderpal Kaur and M S Mann. All three books were taught in the 12th grade. The three books were published by a publisher from Jalandhar.

According to media reports, the complainant, Baldev Singh Sirsa, has said that some parts of these books do not match the true history of the Sikhs. It has been alleged that these books not only contain false information about Sikhs in the freedom struggle but also in Gurbani there have been mistakes of words. The ban on the three books has been confirmed by PSEB Chairman Jograj Singh. The school education department cited the inquiry report and said that along with the sale of these books, they have also been banned from teaching in schools.

According to Jograj Singh, "After so many mistakes, how were these books allowed to be taught by the board? We will examine it in depth. Strict action will be taken against any officer or any other found guilty in this. Along with these three books, another book written by one A C Arora has also been written with the same words, which were being sold without the approval of the board. An inquiry is being conducted in this matter. We await the final conclusion for action.''
