MOSCOW:  Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that his country supports the "two-state solution." According to news reports, Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Sochi that the current conflict between Israelis and Palestinians must be handled in accordance with previously adopted UN Security Council resolutions.

Putin emphasised that the situation must be resolved in an equal manner that considers the interests of all people living in the region."Of course, no matter how difficult it is, we will work in this direction," he stated.

"We are all aware of the current situation in which we all are living, particularly Palestinians. The coronavirus epidemic, besides external pressure and regional tensions, has played a role in the situation, President Putin said. He went on to say that Russia had also assisted Palestine with medications and vaccines. In addition, Russian health specialists and medical personnel visited the Western Asian country to assist the country's population during the pandemic's most difficult period, Putin said.
