Putin supporter Patrushev visits Iran for talks

Moscow: Russia's powerful Security Council Secretary Nikolai Petrushev visited Tehran on Wednesday and spoke with Iranian officials about security-related issues, according to TASS news agency.

According to TASS, Patrushev will hold regularly scheduled Russian-Iranian security consultations in Tehran with the participation of Security Council experts and representatives of ministries and agencies of the two countries.

The visit comes amid ongoing allegations that Iran provided "kamikaze" drones to Russia to aid in Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Tehran acknowledged over the weekend that it had sent a "small number" of drones to Moscow, but claimed they were delivered before the conflict began.

In a series of attacks over the past few weeks, Kyiv and the West claim that Russia used Iranian drones to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

As a result of these attacks, Kyiv and other major cities in Ukraine had to implement rolling blackouts to retain power.
