TOKYO: Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth advanced to the quarterfinals on Thursday, winning the title against Japan Open 2019. The fifth seeded Sindhu had to sweat a lot against non-seeded Japanese Aya Ohori in an hour-long contest, but she managed to win 11-21 21-10 21-13 in the second round of the women's singles. Praneeth defeated another local shuttler Kanta Sunyama 21-13 21-16 in the men's singles match which lasted 45 minutes.

However, HS Prannoy, who defeated Hamwat Kidambi Srikanth in the opening match, lost to Rasmus Gameke of Denmark 9-21 15-21 in the second round. Sindhu wins 8-0 against Ohori in BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament on Thursday Done. Sindhu will now face the winner of the match between China's Chen Xiao Jin and fourth seed Akan yamagucci of Japan.

In the Men's Doubles, India had good news, with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty winning the second round match of the three-game tournament. The Indian duo defeated the Chinese duo of Kai Jiang Huang and Cheng Liu 15-21 21-11 21-19 in 53 minutes. She will now face local pair of Takeshi Kamura and Kego Sonoda.
